You Can Knit

I’m Marie, an artist, educator, and knitter. Since graduating with a Bachelor of Visual Arts Education from Alexander Mackie CAE in 1979, I’ve spent over 30 years teaching visual arts and embroidery across Australian schools, TAFEs, and regional galleries.

Decades of hands on experience developing programs and leading workshops have given me a unique advantage. I don't just know the stitches and techniques inside out, I know how to translate them for every type of learner, so gaining knowledge and skills is accessible and fun for all my students.

Like many, I was taught to knit by my mother at a young age. Today, my passion for teaching knitting is driven by its incredible, transformative effects on mental health and wellbeing. Nothing brings me more joy than sharing the meditative, creative magic of making things by hand.

Learning a new craft shouldn't feel overwhelming. I can take the guesswork and uncertainty out of the process, guiding you on your knitting journey with patience, clarity, and plenty of enthusiasm!
